This week, Thibaut Designs introduced the Manor Collection by Anna French. – Extravagant prints, ornate embroideries and decorative woven fabrics! The collection encompasses roaring style with lush European flair. A sophisticated color palette ranges from lavish jewel tones like fuchsia and sapphire to neutral taupes and charcoal greys. Designs include dramatic damask and suzani motifs, playful animal spots, a luxurious cut velvet and large-scale scenic patterns.

With this being an election year, Memorial Day this weekend and Independence Day just a month away, we are feeling the inspired and thought it’d be fun to share some cute ideas to bring some patriotic touches to your home!

Personally, changing pillows is the easiest and economical way to tie in new colors, patterns or themes. To add a patriotic touch, think ticking, thick stripes, classic stars (shapes or patterned), even polka dots to give the eye the overall feeling of a recreated flag. Here you can see some of our red, whites and blues at the shop.
A mix of patterns in red, white and blue give a less-literal take on the patriotic look while still looking stylish and contemporary!

In a recent article at freshome Design & Architecture Magazine, our beliefs were confirmed regarding the basis for interior design in #6 of 10 Mistakes That (Almost) Everyone Makes in Interior Design.
#6: BUY FABRICS AND TEXTILES FIRST
“A common mistake that most of us are guilty of—painting first. Put that paint brush down! First, you need to pick out the rooms fabrics and main textiles, such as rugs and curtains.
Why is this? Because it is simply much easier to find fabrics that we love and then pick out paint to match. While it is much harder to find a fabric that we love, that also just so happens to match the paint we have already put on our walls.
So, with budget and room size in mind, go for a shopping excursion. Look through samples of fabrics, rugs, pillows etc… Find what you love and then once you are happy with your design choices, pick out a paint shade or shades from the chosen textiles. Now you can pick up the paint brush.”
